The vision is a Christian English medium school to educate rural children in an increasingly globalized world, eventually enabling them to compete with urban and suburban children who receive a comparable education. This stands in stark contrast to the routine path for most rural children, whose formal education would have otherwise only started at age six in a Tamil medium school – and often ends by seventh or eighth grade.
Children of Thagarakuppam and its surrounding villages are given free education, school uniforms, shoes and school supplies. A token fee of Rs. 25/- child is collected per month to encourage a sense of commitment and responsibility for the education. The school follows the curriculum and a syllabus prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Government and is officially certified and registered by the government. In addition to the standard curriculum, Christian values and bible stories are woven into the teaching, providing a foundation to understand the faithfulness of God and the love of Christ.
Hannah is currently a Primary School (Pre-KG to 5th Standard) that is providing a strong foundation in academics to its students. At the same time, Hannah School encourages parents to understand the value of education for their children and teaches Godliness, discipline and cleanliness.
